In this article we’re going to be going over some things I’ve personally been doing to improve the battery life of the new iPhone 6 and also 6 Plus. We’re not going to be going over the obvious things like turning off bluetooth, wifi, and turning down your screen brightness because those are the basics of improving battery life, but the following tips and tricks should save you a solid 20-30% of battery life if used correctly. Some of these may be a bit confusing to do at first, so I will have step by step video guide on YouTube. Anyway, if you find this video helpful be sure to give it a thumbs up and let’s go ahead and get started.
The first tip is to do disable notifications on applications that aren’t very important to you. What I mean by that is there’s no point in having your phone wake up and vibrate just to let you know about how you can get more tokens in game x, or how you have fifteen minutes left until something will happen in game y. Not only are those types of notifications annoying, but they’re also battery drainers. You can eliminate these by going to your settings, notification center, and then tapping on the applications in the include and then toggling the notifications off.
Our second tip is to turn off background refresh. By default most apps will be toggled on and constantly refreshing in the background without you even knowing it, this simple setting could be the reason why you’re getting poor battery life on your iPhone 6. The fix is to head into the settings, general, background app refresh, and turn off either the individual apps, or background refresh altogether. Even if you do decide to shut everything down, it won’t affect how the applications work.
The third tip is one that many people seem to overlook. Most assume that when having location services and frequent locations on it will just be used in the event that you’re using navigation or are asking siri where to go out to eat, but it’s actually a very different story. You’re phone is always tracking your whereabouts in the background and passing that information along to advertisers so you’ll get better targeted advertisements. You can shut this off by heading into the settings, privacy, and location services.
If you’re anything like me you’re getting emails constantly throughout the day, at least a couple every hours and your phone is constantly buzzing, beeping, and lighting up. Not only is this annoying but it’s also causing unnecessary battery drain. You can stop this by going into settings, mail, and then turn push to off.
